Blair First UMC Funeral Luncheons

Our primary goal for the families on the day of a funeral is one of care and support.  We appreciate your understanding in our new approach to offering a funeral luncheon at Blair First UMC:

  • Funeral Luncheons will need to be catered.

  • We will provide a list of local caterers to the family. 

  • Capacity of Blair 1st UMC’s Fellowship Hall is 125 people.

  • The family will coordinate the details with the caterer who will provide all the food, condiments, specialty equipment, paper products such as plates, napkins, cutlery, and remove immediately after the luncheon.

  • The family will also coordinate details with Blair First UMC’s Funeral Ministry coordinator, Susan Poling. Susan Poling, home phone:  402-533-2702.     For texting only:  402-215-1138.

  • Our Funeral Ministry will provide two or three helpers to assist with kitchen use/knowledge, set up and clean up on the day of the funeral.

  • We will also provide beverages of tea, coffee, lemonade, water, plus cups and supplies such as sugar, creamer, and stir sticks.

  • If the family chooses to provide the food themselves instead of a catering service, they must use and provide paper products. If the family chooses this option, they will arrange for the bulk of preparers, servers and clean-up workers. The Funeral Ministry will still function in the role as they would for an outside catering service.
