Puerto Rico Mission Trip - Step One

Missions Committee is in the first stages of organizing a mission trip, with UMCOR, to Puerto Rico. Anyone that would participate needs to have early Response Iraining (ERT). Training has been scheduled at Blair FUMC on Saturday March 3, 8:30 - 4:00. Cost is $25 and that includes all materials, snacks, and lunch. To sign up for the training go to greatplainsumc.org. Click on the Disaster Response button, then find the calendar on the top menu. From there, find March 3 and click on our training. Follow the directions to get signed up.

The only information we have about a mission trip is supplies will probably need to be backpacked into the affected area. Zika Virus is also a concern, so don't come if you wish to have more children. Once people have ERT, we can start talking with UMCOR about setting up a Mission Trip. If we have enough interest from Blair, we can go as our own group, and be more selective about when we go. We may have to join up with another group that is going.

If you are remotely interested in going, sign up for the training. It doesn't lock you into anything. If you are remotely interested in going but that date doesn't work for you, check the Great Plains calendar often for training in other locations. Email Susan Poling, kpoling22@aol.com, if you have any questions.

Safe Gathering Training - (necessary to take ERT Training). This training is for anyone that works with children, elderly, or vulnerable adults. The training takes 2-3 hours and is done on-line at your convenience. It costs $35 and is good for 4 years. Contact Debbie Foust if you have any questions.
